There’s a little known story in the Bible about a woman whose life was changed by a dramatic turn of events. Some would say she was lucky. I say she knew how to use the power of asking.
We don’t know her name. She’s only referred to as the “Shunammite” — from a place called Shunem. She had hosted the prophet Elisha in her house many times and generously supported him.
Elisha learned from God that a famine was about to hit the land of Israel. Grateful for her kindness, he gave her the heads up and advised her to move with her family out of the country, somewhere where she would be safe and fully provided for.
So she did, and escaped the famine.
Seven years later, when the famine was over, she returned home — only to find someone else occupying her land. Homeless, the Shunammite tried all she could to get her property back, to no avail. Determined to fight for what was rightfully hers, she went all the way to the king to ask for justice.
This is where things get interesting.
By divine providence, while she made her way to the palace, the king took a sudden interest in Elisha’s miracles. He called in Elisha’s assistant, a young man called Gehazi, who started telling the king about all the miracles the man of God had done — including how he’d raised the Shunammite’s son from the dead. As the woman herself walked in, unaware of the conversation, Gehazi said to the king: “This is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha brought back to life!”
The king assigned her an officer to ensure she would not only get her property back, but also all the profits her field had produced for the past seven years!
Luck? I don’t think so.
I think her decision to keep asking until she got what she wanted put her in the right place, at the right time.
Ask more, get more. It’s the power of asking.

I also think that due to the miracle that God had done in her life, the man took notice which shows me that the testimony amongst men has power; and yes when we ask believing, we will receive, not by luck but by faith.
I'll keep asking. I'll be doing something different similiar to the story on Daniel 10:10. All this, to have God's attention and send me the strongest Angel of all: Michael.
Bp Renato,
Great analogy!
I, too, am awaiting divine providence.... And, I will keep asking.....
Thank you!

Bishop Renato,
You are right - it was definitely not luck.
"I think her decision to keep asking until she got what she wanted put her in the right place, at the right time." Exactly.
Many people ask and yet do not get what they want because they do not keep on asking.
Jesus spoke about the power of asking in the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-7. Verse 1 says, "And He also spoke a parable to them to teach it is always right to pray, and not to faint, saying, ..." (Modern King James Version of the Bible).
I love the way you ended your article: "Ask more, get more. It’s the power of asking."
Absolutely.
All the best.
Bp. Renato,
I think this is true. God gave us the power to ask. We should use that but not to just ask but have faith with God that He will provide for us and help us. We should always put both together.

hello bishop Renato,
i also do believe in the power of asking. but do reap of this fruit we must keep on asking without being tired. I used to ask God a lot for His Greatest blessing and today i have Him in me. i am still asking for more and i know He will answer
Amen I will sure ask for more!
Thanks!
What I took for myself, is her spirit, because sometimes you can ask and not get, but she kept on going until she got what she wanted, and sometimes we ask but because the answer was not what we wanted to hear we give up or complain and the list goes on. I will keep asking until I get what I want for sure God will see my perseverance and will honor my faith.

Although many do not stand to wait but when it comes, is because of their faith not luck and because they never stop asking.
The power of asking is very powerful indeed!

Persistence. Persistence. Persistence.
God does not want us to go to Him for one thing, ask, and leave it at that. He wants us to continually seek His help until help comes. When we ask with FAITH, we will receive.
This is strong we need to perservere and fight till the end. We will only fight for something if we know our rights sometimes we think we are too weak or do not deserve a blessing and this is why many people give up along the way.
But due to Jesus' sacrifice we have the right to blessings so there is never a reason to not fight because it is ours already. This shows me that we must go to the end in every fight for justice-with God we can conquer all!
