This is the time of the year that I do not like at all! I would like to share my experience with others. When I grew up christmas was celebrated at home, especially with presents and a lot of food. Even before coming to church I did not like it because I always noticed that whenever december came my family would spent a lot for christmas but when January would come - everyone was crying. No money! Everything wasted! Only debts and not enough to send us to school or buy school uniform.
When I came to the church (19 years old)I was happy and spent most of the time in the church and enjoyed being with family than with food and I remember my sisters and I would go to my mother and tell her' "Don't buy anything for us." Why? Because we understood that christmas was a time that satan was using to destroy many lives.
People get into debts like you said; they are made to believe that they will pay in March and they think it is far and by that time they will be debt free - the lie! just a trick of the devil. When this season comes those who never drank in their lives begin to drink, those who do not steal start to steal from people. It's a time where the devil works the most. Even to travel - I don't like to travel during this time - If I were to travel it would be for the purpose of serving God (always remembering to pray - even if it's not december).
What I do, I always pray for the days of December to be normal weeks and days, to me and my family. This prayer has helped me and my family a lot. No more spending, making unneseccary debts. I remember last year I prayed and then told my mother; "these are just few but very few weeks before the end of the year. Let us not buy what we do not need or spend, wasting money." Praise God after praying and speaking to my family - we treated December as the normal weeks in between the year and I must say WE ENJOYED IT! Those weeks finished so quickly and before we knew it the year was over and it was January.
I and my family were happy because God gave us the wisdom of not wasting and we listened. We were not part of the christmas excitement and we were happy. We spent our December together and going to the church.
This is the time that even now I pray it may pass quickly and that people may be aware of the tricks of the devil to destroy their lives in this season.

Bishop Renato,
As always, you have expressed it so well.
I agree with every word you said, and I do always remember the "7 things to remember in December."
Thank you.
