10 Things I'm Grateful For

Sometimes, especially at ‘down’ times, it’s very important we remember all the things that are going right for us — instead of focusing on what is going wrong.

I’m not having a ‘down’ time now but I figured I would list 10 things I’m grateful for today anyway. If it helps when we’re down, it can’t hurt us when we’re well. So here we go — 10 things I’m grateful for in my life right now:

  1. God’s love and His endless mercy for me. I’ve let Him down many times but He’s always been patient with me.
  2. My beautiful, intelligent, God-fearing wife. I couldn’t have asked for more.
  3. My incredibly helpful, fun-loving, recently-baptized son Filipe, who will turn 16 soon.
  4. The privilege of holding the most important job in the world — the job of saving souls.
  5. All my family are in very good health.
  6. I’ve been blessed with some very genuine, dedicated, hard-working colleagues.
  7. All the people who have been praying for me, all over the world. You know who you are, even if I don’t. May God bless you even more.
  8. Getting three square meals a day (and sometimes a snack in between... :-)
  9. All the times I was misunderstood, misjudged, misinterpreted, and criticized — you keep me striving to get better every time.
  10. The new place we got where we’ll build the home of the new Succeed in Life Center in Houston. Watch this space!

Just going through that list, I feel better already!

What about you? Do you want to feel better? Want to change the focus in your life from the bad to the good? Come on, take a few minutes now and write down your own Grateful List. Maybe you can write them down in the comments below, and inspire others who’ll read it, or just get a piece of paper and do it. Whatever you do, don’t miss this opportunity. What are the 10 things you’re grateful for today?

Here are the ten things I am grateful for (which, with the exception of the first three, are in no particular order):

1. To wake up each day with the assurance that I am God's child. I have done plenty to give Him reason to reject me, but His mercy and infinite love prevail.

2. My husband who, with the passing of each day, becomes more and more the best friend I can't live without.

3. To be a part of this beautiful Work of God. At times I pinch myself at the thought that God chose me and counts on me. I have certainly learned much, much, much more from Him and from doing His Work than I ever would from all the best universities of this world put together.

4. To have my health and the full function of all my body parts. Last year I tore the inner ligament of my knee and had to depend on only one of my legs and crutches for a while. This gave me full appreciation of a fully functional body. I never thought that a knee could make such a difference to how my body operates.

5. My new found courage to blog. I have had many experiences with keeping the blog running, and the person the blogs have spoken the loudest to is me. It is as if I have found a new way of listening to God, and it is exciting for me to even have the priviledge of hearing His Voice urging me on, correcting, comforting, etc.

6. Moving to London last year. It is the first time I have been this far from my family, but I have made such wonderful friends coming here, I wouldn't have it any other way. I have met people I am sure will be a part of my life forever. For that I am extremely grateful.

7. Knowing that God is keeping a close watch over my family and in-laws. They constantly call me with news that guarantee me that God is with them and is doing much more for them than I would ever have been able to do.

8. I am grateful for the UCKG HelpCentre. I am sure there are many wonderful churches out there, that are members of the body of Christ and are working hard to save souls. I am just glad God didn't call me in any other church that the UCKG HelpCentre, because here I found a faith after my own spirit.

9. Having learned to speak Portuguese. The fact that I speak Portuguese is in itself a miracle, but the biggest miracle of it all is having the ability to communicate with many beautiful people, people who have touched my life and blessed me with their pearls of wisdom, including first and foremost, Bishop Macedo.

10. Now, finally, I am grateful for all the hard moments I've been through in life. I do not purposefully invite hard moments to come into my life, in fact I do all I can to avoid them, but everytime that they have come into my life, they have taught me to develop my faith and perserverance. These are valuable lessons without which I would not be able to remain in my faith!

This was great! There is so much God does for us on a daily basis, that we miss at times, because we don't stop to reflect. Thank you for prompting me to take the time to stop, because now, these are not empty words... "I love Jesus!"

1. For finding God in my life when I was still young and experiencing my first true love with Him.
2. For getting married with my first boyfriend, the dream come true husband I had asked God for.
3. For my breathtaking husband who takes such a good care of me in every sense of the word!
4. For my God given son who is such a great companion and has helped me mature in so many ways.
5. For my parents who have passed one to me this faith... I'm forever grateful to them!
6. For the privilege of being called a 'servant of God' and being a spiritual mother to many women of faith.
7. For having all my family involved in this great Work of God.
8. For all the friends I've known through the Work of God who have become a family to me.
9. For the privilege of coming to Texas and being part of SiLC.
10. For the health, the peace, the happiness, the faith, the dreams and goals... this list does not end on 10!
